Lifestyle Medicine

“He that takes medicine and neglects diet wastes the skills of the physician.” Chinese proverb.

Chiropractic philosophy is based on the belief that the body is capable of healing itself and at MaxLife we acknowledge the profound effect nutrition has on its ability to do just that.  Each of the body’s systems – the skeletal, circulatory, digestive and nervous system to name a few – must work in harmony to achieve maximum health, and the role nutrition plays in helping each system function at their height cannot be ignored.

MaxLife adheres to a functional approach to nutrition, meaning we work closely with every patient to personalize a program that emphasizes primary prevention and the underlying causes of their condition. Through a combination of nutrition response testing (an analysis of the body’s reflexes to help determine the nutrients needed to supplement that person’s diet in order to achieve better health) and blood testing when appropriate, Dr. Tanya Maximoff is able to create a dietary program to optimize her patients’ health.

Nutrition does much more than just satisfy a craving:

  • Returning the body to its most balanced state

The body is highly adaptable and adjusts even when doing so has a negative impact on overall health.  When adjustments are  made out of  necessity, the nutritional requirements of the stressed organ also change, and must be met in order to return the body to its optimal health.

  • Proper nutrition can help patients hold a chiropractic adjustment longer

Nutrition affects fluid on a cellular level, which in turn affects the outcome of a chiropractic adjustment.  Proper nutrition leads to longer lasting adjustments while inadequate nutrition works against the adjustment to push spinal alignment back into an unhealthy position.

Eating the wrong foods can contribute to chronic health problems

Many of the most common chronic health problems – obesity, fatigue, and more – people suffer from can be traced to food  intolerances, which can be detected through nutrition response testing, and simple changes to the patient’s diet often lead to improve health.

Most people realize that a healthy diet is important for long-term health, but few understand just how essential good nutrition is to their daily health and well-being.  From determining what foods to avoid, to prescribing nutritional supplements to support their diet,MaxLife works to ensure that every patient is armed with a nutritional plan that promotes optimal health.

Because, after all, you are what you eat.
